Formed in 1999, award winning Genesis Homes’ meteoric rise has been well documented by local and national press. Builder magazine listed them in their “Fast Track” profile as one of the fastest growing companies by percentage growth an unprecedented three straight years (84th in 2004, 19th in 2005 and 68th in 2006). Not surprisingly, Professional Builder magazine also ranked them #367 and #342 in their “Giants” survey of the 400 largest builders in America for 2006 and 2007, respectively. One would think such fast growth would make them lose their local ties and start expanding to other markets, but not with this ownership!
Richard Best and Jill Abla purchased Genesis Homes in November 2005. Before that, Jill had presided over the company as CEO/CFO and had orchestrated the record-setting growth. Richard grew up in Savannah and was a successful custom homebuilder with over 20 years experience in the Savannah market. Their local ties and dedication to the community is a source of the company’s strength and a reason why they go above and beyond other builders in ensuring quality and value.
